Objective

To design an intuitive and user-friendly mobile app and an online platform that enables customers to send, receive, and manage payments seamlessly anywhere in Africa.

I conducted interviews and surveys with a diverse group of potential users from different African countries to understand their needs and preferences regarding mobile payment solutions.

In addition, I analyzed existing mobile payment apps in Africa, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.

Define phase

User persona

I created a user persona based on the research findings. "Mary", is a 35-year-old entrepreneur from Nigeria, she runs a small business and frequently conducts cross-border transactions with suppliers in Ghana and Kenya.

Design phase

Information Architecture
& Visual Design

I established a clear and intuitive information architecture to facilitate smooth navigation within the platform. Developing low-fidelity wireframes for key screens, my focus was on simplicity, consistency, and ease of use.

The resulting design encompasses a clean and modern user interface with a vibrant color scheme that not only reflects the diverse culture of Africa but also maintains a professional look.

Prototyping phase

Usability testing

I constructed an interactive prototype using Figma, Sketch, and Miro to illustrate the app's flow and gather early feedback from users. Subsequently, I conducted usability testing with a small group to pinpoint potential pain points and areas for improvement in the design.

Implementation
and launch

Working with the development team, we ensured that the platform's infrastructure was distributed across multiple data centers to enhance reliability and availability.

We designed the platform to be lightweight, accommodating lower-end smartphones prevalent in some regions. We implemented robust security measures, including compliance with local regulations and international data protection standards.
